I wish to thank Neal Jarnagin and Bob Sable for speaking at our June Auxiliary meeting. Rally Point was the topic and included how it started, programs offered the help those in need get back on their feet and back to civilian life. They also talked of upcoming needs, including a new house and specialized needs for those staying in the house. This shelter is more of a transitional house and not just a homeless shelter. Thank you again, Neal and Bob for sharing information with those attending

June 9-11 was the AMVETS State  Convention held in Marshalltown. I was re-elected as Department President, Donna Fischer as 3rd Vice President, and Jean Lanske continues as Iowa Veterans Home Hospital Rep. Our own Auxiliary won numerous awards. I was most proud of accepting the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Department of Iowa Auxiliary of the Year 2016-2017 for our own Auxiliary #79! Our ladies to a wonderful job, volunteering throughout our community, at hospitals, nursing homes, and supporting our Veterans and their families. Way to go AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Waverly #79!!!
