*This will be an exciting month! On September 7th there will be State of Iowa Fireman’s Convention dinner that the WAVP will provide from 5-8pm. We would like to invite our members to the dinner. We are serving Hamburgers/ Brats, Cole slaw, baked beans, chips, and dessert for $8.00 with a second sandwich of $2.00. Help us show our support to all Fireman that will be in Waverly that week.

*As Ted mentioned in his article, the membership dinner will be a joint effort with the men with the social hour and dinner. We will then divide and have our own program following the dinner. Look in October’s news for further detail on this event. Until then you are encouraged to start sending your dues of $20.00 to Jean Lanske: 416 4th St. SW Waverly, IA 50677.

*On September 21st our Auxiliary is planning a tour of the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City. We will leave Waverly at 9:00am, tour the facility at 1:00 and return to Waverly in time of our 7:00 meeting. We have purchased 10 teddy bears that we will donate to them for children that are staying in the U of I hospital. If you are interested in going, please contact me by phone or email by September 14th  so we can plan transportation. Ronald McDonald house also has needs for the following: HOUSEHOLD ITEMS • Hand Soap • High Efficiency Laundry Detergent • Dishwasher Detergent Tablets • Sink Cleaner • Dish Soap • Toilet Bowl Cleaner • Paper Towels • Dryer Sheets • Pillows • Swiffer Wet Jet Refills- Pads & Liquid • Clorox Disinfecting Wipes • Pledge • Multi-Surface Cleaner • First Class Postage Stamps • Paper Plates • Plastic Utensils. All items must be new, unused items. This is only a partial list. If you would like to donate any of these items you can get them to anyone of our officers and we will make sure that Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City gets your items.

*At our August meeting, Donna reported on her trip to AMVETS National Convention in Reno, NV.

*I wish to thank all that help plan and execute the State of Iowa Fireman’s Convention dinner held at the WAVP. I will report more in the October letter on this event.

*Also, a big thank you to those helping with the move into the building. Grand Opening activities are planned for October 8th. I know I am ready for it to be open.
