This past month has been filled with a lot of activities involving our auxiliary members. The first Friday of each month, a few travel to the Marshalltown VA home and spend time in their craft home and then assisting with afternoon Bingo. As Ted mentioned in his post, several ladies were recognized for the hours of service spent at the VA home this past year. Great Job, Ladies! We have also completed our 6 month service reports and I am very please with the auxiliary members who have contributed information for the reports. This information is compiled and sent to the State Department Officers and is used to apply for recognition awards. In the past, our auxiliary and our members have done very well with receiving multiply awards. So very proud of our auxiliary, the work they do for our community, working for veteran’s needs, hospitals, youth in our community, and the list goes on. If you would like information about becoming more involved, please consider attended our monthly meeting held the 3rd Wednesday of the month, starting at 7:00.
We had several men and auxiliary members attend the Honor Flight dinner and variety show this past month. The money raised helps fund for veterans to fly the Washington DC for a tour and visiting the many memorials including the WWII, Korean, and Viet Nam memorials. Space is limited in our newsletter, but pictures are posted on our FACEBOOK page. Check it out!
Below is the information regarding Memorial Day and events leading up the Memorial Day. If you are able to help with some or all of the preparation, please call the WAVP and leave your name and contact information. This year’s speaker is Kelly Sullivan Loughren, grand-daughter of Albert Sullivan.
