At our August meeting, Donna reported on her trip to AMVETS national convention in Memphis where new national officers were elected. The highlight of her trip included a tour of St. Jude’s Children Hospital, which is one of many project supported by the AMVETS Auxiliary.

Now that the school year has started, I ask that those interested, to start saving Hy-Vee register receipts and also “Box Tops for Education”

These can be found on various products including   many Betty Crocker items, Ziploc storage bags,   General Mills cereals, and   Green Giant fresh vegetables and fruit. It’s easy to find Box Tops. Start clipping and saving today. Each Box Top is worth 10¢ and they add up fast. You can give your receipts and Box Tops to me or any one of the Auxiliary Officers.

Our normal Auxiliary Sponsored food night has moved to September 4th. We are serving hamburger, potato salad, and a dessert bar. Mark your calendar and support our Auxiliary.

On September 5th, a group of ladies will be traveling to the VA Home in Marshalltown. If you are interested in going, please contact Jean at 319-269-3371.

Our service reports are due in mid October. If you have any volunteer hours, donated items, or dollars donated that can be reported for Community Service, Child Welfare, Hospital, or Americanism, please get that information to me or one of our officers by September 30th so we can get our reports done. If you have any questions about what can be reported please give me  a call.

October 15th is our Annual Membership Dinner. Mark your calendars and plan to attend. Your continued support to AMVETS Auxiliary is important to us.
