Thanks to all that attended the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Holiday Hors D’Oeuvres Party. It has been a wonderful year and am looking forward to 2018. Our auxiliary continues to support our veterans and their families, and work hard within our community. If you would like more information on joining the auxiliary, you may contact me or go to our website www.amvets79.us to learn more and fill out an application.
I am working on plaques containing the names and service dates of all past commanders, auxiliary presidents, and Sons of AMVETS commanders to be displayed on the AMVETS wall of the conference room. I wish to thank John Mohlis and Jarbi Laser for making the plaques and donating the time and materials. They should be finished soon, so make sure to stop and admire their wonderful work. Plans are also in the works to display past Department Commanders and Presidents from Waverly #79. Ralph Juhl and Ted Lanske have served as Department of Iowa Commanders. Lavon Juhl, Donna Fischer, and Mary Steinbach have served as Department of Iowa Presidents. Speaking as current Department of Iowa Auxiliary President, I am very proud that Waverly #79 has had such dedicated officers, not only to serve for our own post, but to serve on the Department level.
