Who We Are: AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary is made up of dedicated women whose primary focus revolves around our relationship to an individual who has honorably served our country in military service. As Auxiliary volunteers, we are helping, caring and sharing for our community and for those who are serving and have served our country. We join together as an organization to promote, support, and assist our parent organization AMVETS in achieving this goal.

We are now collecting items to donate to the IVH. A full list of items needed can be found on their website: www.ivh.iowa.gov. This is just a partial list: New clothing ( Primarily XL to 5X, Military ball caps, Tee shirts, sweat pants and shirts, white underwear, socks, long sleeved undershirts, men’s handkerchiefs), Full size personal are items (shampoo, deodorant, body wash, men’s non-aerosol aftershave/cologne)

Full size snacks (candy bars, individually wrapped chips or cookies, microwave popcorn, cans of soda, cake mixes, frosting, or brownie mixes), Large print: playing cards, word search and puzzle books, adult coloring books.

They do not accept: used clothing or trial sized or used personal care items.

There will be a collection box at the WAVP until December 1st when the ladies travel to Marshalltown to volunteer.

I wish to thank all who attended the membership dinner on October 11th. It was a great night, bringing members together, renewing the friendships our Auxiliary family. “Thank you” to Eckers and Love N Lace for the donations of floral arrangements, the Sons of AMVETS for the donation of gift certificates, and all who contributed other door prizes. Congratulations to those receiving service certificates, especially Phyllis Bluhm for 40 Years as an Auxiliary member!

November is Child Welfare month. Continue to collect Hy-Vee receipts, Box Top for Education, Milk Moo la caps, and more to benefit our schools. The Ronald McDonald House and Charities is the project of our Department 3rd Vice, Donna Fischer. Volunteers are needed and monetary donations are always welcomed. More information on ways you can help can be found on their website: http://www.rmhc.org
